What exactly is SEO and Why do I need it for my website?

SEO which is short for Search Engine Optimization, is the practice of increasing the quantity and quality of traffic to your website through organic search engine results.

To understand what exactly SEO means, we'll need to break that sentence down:

• Quality of traffic. You're website can attract all the visitors in the world, but if they're coming to your site because Google tells them you're a resource for "scrubs" (the sanitary clothing worn by surgeons, nurses, physicians and other workers involved in patient care in hospitals) when in fact you're a skincare company selling "body butter scrubs", that is not quality traffic. Instead you want to attract visitors who are genuinely interested in products that you offer and that's where Search Engine Optimization comes in to play. Once you've optimized your website through SEO and have the right people clicking through from those search engine results pages (SERP's) you're good to go. Over time your website should start moving up in the search ranking.

• This however is only the start as Google makes changes to it's search algorithms that can affect how your website ranks Google is reported to change its search algorithm around 500 to 600 times each year. While many of these updates are small and often aren't even picked up by users and SEO, every once in a while, Google releases major updates which can have a huge impact on your website's ranking. This is why having your SEO constantly monitored and tweaked is critical to your websites success!

Did you know that search engines like Google are responsible for about 92% of all website traffic. And research shows that websites listed on the first search engine results page receive almost a staggering 95% of the viewer's attention.

This is why having your company's website's set for SEO is critical to your company's online success.

Don't be fooled by all the spammy emails promising a first page result on GOOGLE. Sure they can get you to page 1, but in reality all they are able to do is get you on page 1 when someone searches for your business name specifically. This is not a bad thing, our process does this too, BUT in order to be found when someone searches a category or service, your site needs to be presented organically in a search results. To have this happen, a site has to have it's content optimized and presented to Google in a way that it deems you an authority and that you provide value to a searcher. There is no magic bullet or instant result when it comes to SEO. It is a long game process and one that requires aggressive active effort and attention. We do this and do it well.
